1.태극기의 건곤감리중 곤의 의미.
☆땅(地), 여름(夏), 서(西), 의(義)를 나타내며, 기면의 오른쪽 아랫 부분에 배치한다.

In Korean flag, one of the black stripes is called Gon. The stripes is located in the southeast side. Also, these mean earth, summer, west and justice.

2.태극기의 흰색 바탕의 의미.
☆- 바탕의 흰색 : 평화의 정신이다. 태극기의 흰색 바탕은 백의민족의 순수와 밝음을 뜻하며, 전통적으로 평화를 사랑하는 한민족의 민족성을 표현하고 있다.
The meaning of white background color in Korean flag is the mind of peace. The white color presents innocense and brightness and loving peace which are the traditional characters of Han tribe, Korean.

3.태극무늬의 의미.
☆- 태극원형 : 단일의 정신이다. 태일(太一), 즉 '지극히 큰 하나'로서 단일 민족성과 통일의 정신을 나타낸다. - 태극음양(청홍) : 창조의 정신이다. 우주의 근본인 태극이 음(청)과 양(홍)의 양의(兩儀)로 나누어 지고 이 음양의 두 가지 힘으로 우주 만물을 창조하듯이, 우리 민족의 창조성을 나타내고 있다.

The meaning of Taeguk circle is unity of Korean. It is called Tae-Il which means the Korean character of unity.
The blue and red colors in the circle imply the mind of creation. Taeguk, the blue and red circle is the the root of the universe. In the circle, blue(yin) and red(yang) is seperated and these yin and yang can create all nature by their power which also represent creativity of Korean.
